Nutrition is important for all of us, but for some nutrition can be vital to the management of certain conditions. At MetroRehab Hospital, our dieticians can assess your health, your condition and how nutrition can help empower you.
What is dietetics?
Your diet, nutritional intake and liquid intake can all be affected by your condition in several ways. If you have difficulty swallowing food or fluids safely, it may be difficult to maintain adequate nutritional intake and hydration. This can lead to weight loss, fatigue, dehydration and muscle wasting. Our dieticians can help you improve your digestion, food and fluid intake and aid your development with the right nutritional plan to suit you.
Who is dietetics for?
You will benefit from dietetics if you require non-oral feeding, have food intolerances or allergies, or have vitamin and mineral deficiencies. If you have a chronic condition like cancer, dementia or stroke, or have had a spinal cord or brain injury, you may also benefit from this program.
What are the benefits of dietetics?
Not only will our team of dieticians aid you in gaining as much nutritional value in your diet as possible, the added benefits include:
- Improved fluid and food intake
- Improved digestion
- Higher energy levels
- Improved development in body functionality
- Greater independence and self-care
- Improved socialisation
- Effective weight management
