Pain Management

MetroRehab Hospital is the trusted place to turn to for deconditioning and pain management issues.

Deconditioning occurs when you lose physical function. You may experience deconditioning in parts of your body due to surgery, illness or injury. Pain is defined as unpleasant sensation that can range from mild, localized discomfort to agony. How we experience pain is unique to each of us. Some feel pain very intensely and others feel less so.

Deconditioning and pain can have significant negative effects including limiting your everyday activities and making it hard to concentrate. You may become less social and isolate from the people around you. Feelings of frustration and stress can result. Through our reconditioning and pain management programs, you can benefit from strength and conditioning training that helps you live the life you want with confidence.

We have a wide range of reconditioning and pain management programs. If you are recovering from recent surgery, or have noticed that your usual level of independence has declined and you need additional support, we can create an individually tailored reconditioning and pain management program to help improve your wellbeing.

The reconditioning program focuses on improving your strength, endurance and balance as well as optimising your ability to perform your routine daily tasks. Getting in and out of a car, moving about outdoors and practising preparing a simple meal are all important aspects of our comprehensive reconditioning program.

“I presented to Metro Rehab at the end of August after a fall. I sustained a small fracture in the cup of the hip which meant I needed rehab in order to walk again. I have cerebral palsy which posed extra challenges to rehabilitation.

The excellent staff and facilities at MetroRehab enabled me to be discharged after a month of intense daily physio and hydrotherapy coupled with frequent monitoring from the occupational therapist.

The two features I really liked were the way in which all the components of the MR operation worked together very collaboratively and the positive atmosphere that pervaded the whole facility. This is a place where the cleaners are appreciated and known by name!”
