If your Insurer covers the cost of a private room, we will endeavour to accommodate your request. Please note that private rooms are allocated on a medical needs basis.
You will be informed before admission if you need to pay an excess or co-payment. Newspapers, standard trunk dialling, international, mobile phone calls and personal laundry will all incur small fees for use. You may receive a bill for items such as pharmacy, blood tests or X-rays should you require these while you are at MetroRehab.
During your admission, your doctor will discuss your estimated length of stay with you.
We recommend you bring the following for your stay.
- Comfortable, good fitting shoes with shoe laces or Velcro fasteners, a flat heel and soles that grip.
- Please do not bring slippers, thongs and other loose fitting shoes as they can cause falls.
- Comfortable casual clothes to wear during the day.
- Night wear including a dressing gown.
- Swimwear if you wish to participate in hydrotherapy.
- Personal toiletries you may need during your stay.
- Any medications.
MetroRehab is unable to take responsibility for valuables or personal belongings. We recommend that you send home any valuables or personal belongings that you will not require during your admission.
Items such as dentures, splints, orthodontic plates, hearing aids, eye glasses, mobile phones and jewellery are your personal property and the hospital does not take responsibility for the loss of such items. Whenever you are not using these items we recommend that you place them in your drawer or in a marked container.
Our wholesome menu is prepared onsite using only the freshest ingredients. Our head chef is happy to meet with you to discuss any dietary preferences.
MetroRehab Hospital is pleased to offer physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, music therapy, social work, clinical psychology, dietetics, speech pathology, and hydrotherapy.
During your stay, our discharge planners will have ongoing discussions with you and your family to help you plan your discharge. They will also assist you in preparing for any ongoing needs you may have when you return home.
Discharge time is 10.00am. Please ensure that you have a friend or relative to pick you up on the day of your discharge. A letter will be sent to your GP following your discharge.
If required, your doctor may refer you to our Day Patient Program for further treatment.

The 428 bus from Central Station to Canterbury via Newtown stops directly outside the hospital. MetroRehab is approximately 800 metres walk from Petersham train Station.

Your GP or healthcare provider can contact us on (02) 8585 4900 for a referral form or complete it online here.
Once we have received your referral, we will contact either you or the referring hospital to organise your pre-admission assessment.
